Guda Drum models and how to make the right choice
Dear Guda customers and guests of our website! I'm always happy to talk to our customers and give the advice but some questions are typical and I decided to write this short review to help you with choice of our drums. The most frequently asked questions are "what model of Guda drum is the best for my purposes", "what model to choose" or "what is the difference between Guda models".
Now we have 5 main types and several suptypes of Guda Drum. Main types are GUDA 2.0 (which has replaced the old model), Guda Double, Guda Coin, Guda Ortus and Guda Freezbee drum. Each type has several subtypes, you can find their short descriptions in the following table:

GUDA DOUBLE Our largest and most advanced model. Both sides of the instrument have tongues and its own tuning. It is more than just the instrument with 2 scales. We tune both sides in such way that the sound of first side is "starts" the second and on the contrary - if you play second side you can hear the sound of the first one. We select matched scales, major for one side andminor for another (though we can tune both in major or minor) |
Guda Double Guda Double tongue pan has 51-52 cm diameter. First side has double tongue construction at the first side and single tongue construction at the second side. Normally Guda Double has 9+9 tongues, but also it could have some other quantity of tongues (10+10, 9+8, 11+10, etc.) |

GUDA 2.0 Classic Guda Drum model. Has large sizes (500 mm), double tongue construction, variety of options and most advanced sound. GUDA 2.0 replaced our old types (Guda Standard, Plus and Fx). It has premium materials (more quality and thick steel and else) and of course much better sound as well as playing capabilities. Main feature of Guda 2.0 model is the double tongue construction which gives bright octave overtones which could be played separately or together with the main tone All GUDA 2.0 models are equipped with premium quality backpack bags, rope decorations and removable wooden plugs with logo. Wooden plug is removable and it slightly changes the sound. It gives more bass and density when worn and more volume when pulled off. Available options:
|
Guda 2.0 Standard Guda 2.0 Standard has 8 notes and the sound hole upside. The successor of our first classic model, replaced Guda Standard first generation. Has the same geometry but more solid steel and double tongue construction. |
|
Guda 2.0 Plus Almost the same model as Guda 2.0 standard, the difference is that Guda 2.0 Plus has 9 notes (8 + 1 central bass note) and the hole at the bottom. This model is close to handpans not only because of its shape and octave overtones, it has the central bass note (a.k.a. "ding") which is usually tuned in the key (root) note of the scale. |

Guda 2.0 Standard Fx Exactly the same model as Guda 2.0 Standard, but has 4 internal pickups and the output 1/4" jack. Acoustically sounds exactly like Guda 2.0 Standard. Could be plugged in amplifier, combo, mixer, sound card, etc. |

Guda Ortus Guda Ortus tonguepans have original goblet shape and made of brass and aluminum. Thank to materials and shape, Ortus tongue pans have very good resonance, and as a result - excellent volume and sustain. These tongue drums are compact (only 35 cm or 14" diameter) but have wide rane of tones and good loudness. Goblet shape is also very convenient.
|
Ortus Brass Ortus Brass model has deep and warm sound, which is hard to expect from such a small instrument. Has tight bass, excellent volume and sustain. Has the same note range as large Guda models. Top side is made if brass (for deeper and warmer sound), body is made of aluminum (for better resonance and lighter weight).

Ortus Aluminum Full aluminum model. Main features of Ortus brass are very bright and loud sound and extremely light weight. Very good for fast playing.

Freezbee drum All Freezbee drums have 8 notes and made of stainless steel. The variety of scales and design are available. Please note that some of scales are tuned higher than the same scales for Guda 2.0. Freezbee has compact sizes and higher tunings sound better |
